Replace Missing Teeth with Dental Implants Services

Dental Implants Services in Calgary AB Area

Since your smile is the first thing someone notices when they meet you, it’s not uncommon to feel self-conscious about it. But if you are feeling unhappy about your smile because of missing teeth, dental implants services in Calgary, Alberta, can improve your smile, just the way you have always wanted.

What is a dental implant?

In the real sense, a dental implant isn’t a replacement for your entire tooth. It acts as a tooth root, providing anchorage to a crown, bridge, or dentures. An implant comprises three parts:

  • The implant (screw)
  • An abutment that is attached to the screw to add length
  • A tooth crown that is fitted on the abutment

The dental implant process

When you visit Lake Chaparral Dental Care for a dental implant process, it starts with a consultation with Dr. Palka Sawhney Sharma. Here, our dentist examines your mouth and takes your medical history to determine that you are perfect for an implant. During the consultation any questions that you have are answered by her to ensure you are informed every step of the way.

Next, she will place the implant into the bone and give it a few months to fuse with the bone. After six months or so, you will return to our clinic, where a small incision is made on your jaw bone to place the abutment. Then, a crown is fitted to give you a complete, natural smile.

A single missing tooth can be restored with one implant. But when you miss three to four teeth, we recommend a cost-effective treatment using dental bridges affixed to the natural teeth or an implant. And if you are missing an entire arch, we recommend implant-supported dentures that increase your bite function and overall appearance.

Benefits of dental implants

Why are dental implants popular? It’s because they provide the following benefits:

  • Improve the tooth biting ability
  • Prevent bone loss
  • Reinvent your smile
  • Restore your speech ability
  • Boost your confidence
  • Prevent adjacent teeth from shifting
  • Are permanent tooth restoration services
  • Easy to maintain

Dental implants can last for many, many years with proper care. Brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and visiting your dentist regularly, are practices to extend your implants even for a lifetime! However, since your crown isn’t as strong as your natural teeth, it can chip, crack, or stain after some years. However, the replacement of your crown can be done easily when signs of wear and tear start cropping up.
